Visa applicants who meet the criteria below may be eligible to apply for their visas by mail, without a visa interview, if:

1. They normally reside in Canada; and
2. They are physically present in Canada; and
3. Their visa and passport have not been lost, stolen, canceled, or revoked; and

   • Renewals in the Same Category: They already have a U.S. visa that is valid or has expired within the last 48 months and wish to renew their visa of the same classification (e.g. a holder of a recently expired J visa may NOT renew and get a B1/B2 visa) or
   • F, M, or Academic J Visas: They are applying for an F, M, or Academic J visa and have previously been issued any type of visa; or
   • Individual Petition-Based H, O, P, and Q Visas: They are applying for an H-1, H-3, H-4, O, P, or Q visa and have previously been issued any type of visa. Applicants for L visas are not eligible for interview waiver under this category.

If you qualify for Interview Waiver and your application requires an additional fee, the Consular Section will reach out with additional information on payment methods.

大家都知道持加拿大护照去美国免签证，但这里问的是持中国护照申请B1/B2再拿什么作为呆在加拿大的合法证明。为什么不用枫叶卡？还不是因为已经剪了吗。
至于为什么还要用中国护照/身份申请去美国？大家都懂。再说这么做有规定不可以吗？有人真的用吗？据说现在入境美国不在护照上盖章了，那用不用中国护照进美国没什么实际意义。但有意义的是中国护照上有美国签证。

确实是和本贴无关。这里说的是用中国护照申请美国签证，持中国护照进入美国，身份就是中国公民而不是加拿大公民，所以无法免签证。

如果已经入籍了，枫叶卡早就过期了，移民纸也是多年以前的了，申请美签需要提交在加拿大的有效身份状态（valid status in canada），而且还必须是有效期内的，该怎么办？

本贴中的中国国籍申请者在加拿大的有效身份是加拿大公民身份，如果需要有效期内的可以提供加拿大护照或入籍证书。
加拿大承认双重国籍，一个中国公民同时持有加拿大公民身份在加拿大完全合法，在加拿大的有效身份当然可以是加拿大公民。
中国不承认双重国籍，但在《中加领事协定》里明确写了，双方政府都同意给予自称同时具有中华人民共和国和加拿大国籍的人在两国间旅行以便利。简单说就是中国不承认双重国籍，可是你可以“自称”具有两个国籍，中国也愿意提供旅行方便，但不代表中国“承认”你有两个国籍（只会“承认”其中一个国籍）。
